Capital City: Islamabad is one of the world’s youngest modern cities and also a capital with strong traditional Islamic cultural features.It lies on the Potohar Plateau at an altitude of over 600 meters in northeastern Pakistan, backed by the Margalla Hills, adjacent to the clear Rawal Lake on the east, and surrounded by lush green hills to the south. It enjoys a pleasant climate and beautiful scenery, and is 1,300 kilometers away from the sea. Karachi was once the capital. In 1959, the Government of Pakistan decided to build a new capital here.The capital was officially relocated to Islamabad in 1967, and the city was basically completed in 1970, with a population of 1.5 million. The Shakarparian Hill within the Rose and Jasmine Park in the southern part of the city is a well-known tourist attraction.
