This chapter first reviews the intercontinental container rail network promoted under China's "Silk Road Economic Belt" policy, as well as the services operating to and from China. Subsequently, it introduces the input data utilized for developing the model. After presenting the results calculated based on the developed model, the model is applied to the Eurasian region to simulate the potential impacts of policies related to China's "Belt and Road Initiative" (such as the China-Europe Railway Express and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) on the competitiveness of land transport (LT) in container shipping between China and western Eurasian countries (including Europe, the South Caucasus, and Iran). Considering the competition between maritime container shipping (MCS) and land transport across the entire continent, the model is modified to incorporate goods that do not utilize maritime transport.
